Alliance FC Manager- Position Open.

GVSA Alliance Rapids Representative- Karen Ross 616-676-0634.

Top Ten Things For Managers To Know or Do:

1- Typically coaches schedule their own games but, you may be asked to assist with this.

2- After all of this scheduling work you may still find yourself having to change a game date or time after the schedule has been posted.  It is very important to follow the game change procedures posted on this page.

3- For game day responsibilities, see the appropriate link above.

4- Put together a folder or packet to hand out to your team that includes practice schedule, game schedule, out of town maps, snack schedule, contact sheet w/family phone #'s and e-mails.

5- Implement 1/2 time fruit snack w/rotating sign up.  Watermelon pieces, apple slices. orange wedges or bananas are great for 1/2 time.  After game snacks are optional and used as a fun reward.

6- You are the link between the coach and families and will need to forward many e-mails so it is necessary to be on-line frequently.

7- You may be asked to send reminders for registration payments when due but, will not be asked to collect any monies for club play.  These teams typically stay together for winter programming and you may choose to collect team fees when one check is required or may have another parent volunteer to do this.  Individual fees and registration payments may be mailed or dropped off to our offices @ 6119 28th St SE, #2G, GR MI 49546.  There is a drop box (24hr) located outside of the office door for your convenience and is checked frequently.  Checks only no cash please.

8- If you have a situation on your team when (and it will happen) a parent has a complaint it is important to give them the right person to talk to and follow the chain of command (coach, office manager or director of coaching etc), not to become a sounding board yourself.  There is usually a fix or a good explanation when someone has a question or complaint. But, people need to go to  the source not create an even bigger problem by complaining in a group situation without proper/correct information.  Many problems are created due to lack of a good avenue (or person) to steer things in the right direction.  Please understand that as a Club we want nothing more than to keep everyone happy but, also be prepared that some people are just unhappy and you/we will not be able to fix things for them.  We have a policy to listen and take seriously any complaint/suggestion and will take the time necessary to explain or make changes when appropriate.

9- Enjoy yourself.  I am sure you already know how rewarding volunteering can be.  It is probably why you are a manager or are considering becoming one.  It is so much fun getting to know your families and making lifetime friendships not only for yourself but, for your children.

Thank You from the Alliance Staff and all the families in the Alliance FC.  Without volunteers like you, we would not be a successful club and truthfully...our coaches would much rather be using their time teaching the wonderful game of soccer than doing these jobs.  You make their life and ours so much easier and are the glue to a great team.
